Covid announcement - 15/10/20
Dear Town and Parish Clerks
I am writing to confirm that, due to the current rate of Covid 19 infection and the increasing number of cases across North East Derbyshire, the District has been placed into the HIGH
level of restrictions (tier 2 on the Covid levels of alert).
This will take effect from the early hours of Saturday morning.
While none of us want to be in a place where additional restrictions are necessary, I understand from dialogue with Public Health colleagues that these measures are required to control the increasing rates of infection, slow the spread of the virus and protect our residents and health care services as much as possible.
We will be issuing further guidance to explain how this will affect our residents and businesses and will be providing advice and support where required over the coming days. We will also continue to work with our neighbouring Councils, Public Health and Government to do everything we can to move back into Tier 1 as soon as possible.
In addition, we will continue working very closely with our local partners, and particularly Parish Councils, to help support our residents and businesses through this challenging time and do what we can to get on top of this terrible virus.
Please keep checking the government's website for the latest coronavirus information and follow the guidance given. There is now a postcode checker on the site, you can use to find out the coronavirus restrictions in a local area. Please also see the quick reference graphic attached, showing the guidance for the High Covid alert level.
We'll also be posting updates on our website and social media.
Kind regards, Cllr Alex Dale,
Leader of North East Derbyshire District Council
