Abundant Life

Dynamite , For over 25 years the young people of Holmewood, North Wingfield and Temple Normanton have been made very welcome at the Dynamite Club Tibshelf Road.

The club is run by volunteers young and old and actively encourages parents to come and get involved. At the moment there is a film project happening there when members of the public can talk about their experiences of growing up in Holmewood. This is part of a bigger film about the village

Holmewood Cricket Club

Holmewood Cricket Club has been in existence since 1922, the majority of years before and just after the second world war being named as Hardwick Colliery Cricket Club. In 1956 the club was reconstituted and from its inception until 1979 the club played on the Holmewood Miners Welfare Social Club ground based at Williamthorpe Pit Lane. In 1979 the Derbyshire County Council purchased the ground from the Welfare and since that date the club has played at the local authority owned recreational ground in the centre of the village.

The club runs two adult teams on Saturdays who compete in the Derbyshire County Cricket League Divisions 3 and 8 North, and a midweek team in the Chesterfield and District Cricket League. They run evening coaching sessions on Wednesdays (6.00pm) where they hope to increase the numbers attending

Free hampers of food when funds are low, they have fresh veg and fruit, as well as bread

WHO SUPPLIES THE FOOD FOR THE SCHEME?

They Have just opened a small charity shop to support this work

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SUPPORT?

Referrals from Social Services, Health visitors, Sure Start children workers, Head teachers, local policemen and recently Citizens advice Bureau as well as district nurses
